Fourth Purpose Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting prisoners as they reintegrate into welcoming communities. They prioritize political activism and provide resources for staff, inmates, and neighborhoods. The aim is to equip everyone involved with the information needed to prepare prisoners for their return.
Initially, their information design system was chaotic, visually unappealing, and lacked clear direction. The first step in improving their digital presence was to create a new, contemporary web interface that maintained the organization's passionate mission while adhering to its evolving branding guidelines.
This involved redesigning the organization's visual identity and brand mark, making adjustments to colors to enhance clarity and appeal (each representing a specific branch of Fourth Purpose's resource allocation focus), and refining the voice and positioning of the non-profit.
In addition to improving their website, Fourth Purpose Foundation created training materials for self-guided and corporate learning. The new design choices made training materials easy to understand and accessible to more people, supporting the organization's goal of shifting the paradigm of prison labor from control to healing and reintegration.
