HeirKey is an online platform for organizing important information for seniors and their heirs. It functions like a digital safety deposit box, allowing a senior to securely store essential details they want to give to an heir after passing.
The task was to create a record keeping app that straddles the line between seniors and their dependents. Unlike typical end-of-life tools, this should prioritize the transition of local and daily home operations from seniors to dependents, rather than just focusing on legal matters.
Since the app bridges the digital skill gap between users, it drew inspiration from genealogy sites where this type of overlap is more common. The UI design incorporates high contrast colors, simplified alignment, and step-by-step instructions. These user-friendly design choices are meant to reduce entry barriers for digital beginners.
The application is in the demo stage at the time of writing, featuring five external pages for the market and an internal client portal walkthrough. External pages include home, pricing, about, login, and contact. The internal portal guides dependents through house instructions during end-of-life care.
